About me — Bert Pathuis
My logistics career started in shipping, where I sailed the world's oceans for several years as a navigator. That period laid the groundwork for my practical mindset, sense of responsibility and international perspective.
After shipping I developed further within port logistics and moved on to road transport. In that sector I held a number of senior management roles at medium-sized logistics service providers, with responsibility for warehousing, transport and forwarding. Those roles gave me deep insight into both strategic questions and daily operations.
Since 2017 I have been an entrepreneur. I co-owned Forwarding Plus, specialised in transport to and from the Czech Republic. In recent years I have supported shippers, logistics service providers and carriers as senior project manager and advisor on projects and improvement programmes.
A core strength of mine lies on the interface between operations and IT. I understand how logistics processes actually run and know how to translate that into supporting systems and layout. That lets me guide organisations to the right choices and ensures IT solutions genuinely contribute to daily operations and are accepted by users.
